THE SUPREMACY OF CHRIST(Part 1)

THE SUPREMACY OF CHRIST (Part 1).

Colossians 1:15-18. Verses 15&16 read:

“Who is the image of the invisible God, firstborn of every creature: For by him all things were created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”.

As we gradually approach another Christimas, a season when the world celebrates the birth of Christ, we want to focus attention on the subject of the supremacy of Christ. In this series, we want to consider the superior status Jesus Christ enjoys over all humanity and spiritual authorities. Scripture reveals Christ as one who operated in a matchless class before, during, and after his incarnation. There is none like him in all realms of existence; human or spiritual.

Before and during his incarnation, Jesus demonstrated superiority in all he did. As a man, he was the visible expression of the invisible God. He was the mortal manifestation of the immortal God, who offered men the opportunity to appreciate and relate to the reality of God. In John 5 verse 19, Jesus said:

“…….Verily, verily, I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; for what things soever he does, these things does the Son likewise”.

No man ever reflected God the Father the way Jesus did. His life was the expression of heavenly patterns on earth and the revelation of the divine one through a human vessel. Before his incarnation, he existed as the Word by whom all things; visible or invisible, material or spiritual, were created. John 1 verses 1-3 read:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.”

Creation owes its existence to Christ, who existed with the Heavenly Father from the beginning as the Word. He is the spoken Word that brought all visible created things into being. Without the word, there would be no creation. The creator is certainly superior to his creation. Beloved, right from creation, which is the beginning of all things, Jesus Christ proved to be superior as a testament to his supremacy.
