LIVING BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Part 30)

LIVING BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. (Part 30).

Isaiah 11. Verses 1-3 read:

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: and the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; and shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

We are still continuing with our discussions on the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus Christ. Whereas the fruit of the Spirit reveals the character of Christ, the presence of the Holy Spirit upon Christ reveals the qualities that guaranteed his operational accuracy and efficiency. Through these virtues, Jesus expressed ministry the very way God would have men express it, thereby providing the perfect example for men to follow. Yesterday, we looked at three of these virtues, namely wisdom, understanding, and counsel. Today, we want to discuss another three as follows:

  1. The spirit of might: This refers to divine empowerment that enables men to do things they cannot ordinarily do. Where the spirit of might is at work, exploits abound. It is the presence and operation of the spirit of might in a man that makes him a mighty man. Through the spirit of might, Jesus did many things that beat the imagination of the people of his day.
  2. The spirit of knowledge: This is a spirit that supernaturally accesses the mysteries of God. The carriers of the spirit of knowledge are acquainted with both the documented and revealed word of God. Such men have their senses trained to distinguish between falsehood and truth. They stay in tune with the Holy Spirit, thereby making their actions accurate and flawless. Jesus manifested the spirit of knowledge through his teaching and the operation of spiritual gifts such as the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom, and prophecy. These contributed greatly to the outstanding life and ministry of Jesus Christ.
  3. The spirit of the fear of the LORD. This refers to a spirit that revers and honours God so much that it eschews evil and embraces what is good. Where the spirit of the fear of the LORD is operational, men stay under the command of God, and they experience God’s visitation.

There are so many accomplishments awaiting believers. These accomplishments cannot be attained by human power or might. They can only be attained by the enablement of the Holy Spirit. Based on a solid relationship with the Holy Spirit, the believer has the capacity to manifest the might, knowledge, and fear of the Lord, as did Jesus Christ.
