LIVING BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. (Part 11).
1 Corinthians 2. Verses 14-16 read:
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness and can not understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Life finds its true meaning when it is lived by the enablement of the Holy Spirit. According to today’s text, the man who does not have the Holy Spirit, also known as a natural man, is unable to receive and accept the things that come from the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately, he considers them as foolishness, and he can not understand them because they can be discerned by men who have the Holy Spirit. To be without the Holy Spirit is to be cut off from all the goodness the Spirit has to offer. This is a pity.
The person who has the Spirit has the capacity to judge all things. In other words, he is able to examine, investigate, and discern all things with the help of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit plays a key role in making the right choices and decisions in life. His guidance also saves men from becoming victims of the circumstances of life. Men who operate by the Spirit can not be subjected to the judgments of mere men because through the Holy Spirit, they live a superior life, which manifests as the fruit of the spirit in their lives. According to Galatians 5 verses 22-23, no charge based on human law can be brought against such men because their lives are subject to the superior law of God.
No man knows or understands the mind, that is, the counsels and purposes of God so as to guide and instruct him. God does things at the counsel of his will and does not consult any man. However, through the relationship with the Holy Spirit, men are able to receive the mind of Christ, which is in perfect alignment with the will of God. Beloved, it is a privilege to know and relate to the Holy Spirit. We must not take this relationship for granted because it is the basis for successful living.
